Lance Carlson - Connecting Thoughts

November 28, 2008 to January 4, 2009

Lance Carlson’s Connecting Thoughts is a one-person exhibition of 30 recent mixed media paintings on canvas and paper. Exploring connections between music, art, architecture and literature, his imagery evolves into a dialogue between the connected elements that is wholly free from ordinary interpretation.

Artist Statement

Throughout recorded history, man has explored connections between his perceived world of objects, events, places and emotions by utilizing the arts as a voice of expression.

Music, visual art, architecture and literature seem to synchronize with rhythms played out against a progression of time resonating with an honesty and beauty that is generally recognized as a significant record of the socio-cultural narrative.

I like to seek personal connections between music, art, architecture, and literature that are unbounded by conventional time.

This is expressed in imagery, marks and rhythms representative of where or how the connection is made within my personal experience.

The expression may begin on a somewhat literal level and evolve into a dialogue between the connected elements that is wholly free from ordinary interpretation.
